Seven Quick Takes Friday

I went to the doctor last Friday and he strongly recommended a new diet. No, I’m not overweight, in case you look at my photos and don’t see it. This diet is gluten-free and dairy-free, with as many organics as I can afford (which, let’s face it, is not many), and emphasizing more chicken and fish rather than red meat. It’s supposed to help with my fertility.

That’s right. I’m going to come out and say it, even though family, friends, and strangers are reading: The thing in my life that monopolizes my thoughts and that I haven’t wanted to blog about is that we want to have babies and so far, we haven’t succeeded.

I missed choir practice last night for a good cause. A group in the diocese is trying to start a place of retreat for priests, St. John’s Hermitage. They hosted a dinner last night. My bishop, Frederick Campbell, was given an award for evangelization in the diocese. A friend of ours from the Knights of Columbus is on the board of the organization that gave the award and organized the dinner, and he invited us to be guests at his table. Brett was also in the Knights of Columbus honor guard for the bishop.

I love that I get to see my husband in a tuxedo so often.

This isn't the tux he wears for KofC (it was rented), but isn't he handsome?

At the dinner, they served very, very cheesy lasagna. Because I don’t have a disease that makes it dangerous to cheat on my diet, I ate it anyway. It was delicious, though maybe a little too cheesy. However, I never thought that after only a week and a half of not eating wheat products and a week of not eating dairy products (except Greek yogurt, which my doctor said was okay), I had a tummy-ache. Stuff like this makes it easier to stick to a diet.

I had a nightmare that woke me up about an hour earlier than normal this morning. I hope that I don’t get too tired today.
